Candace // Owner & Founder

Hello! My name is Candace and I’m a dogaholic…but, I’m not just a dogaholic, rather a dog of all trades! I’m a pet parent expert, Founder of Dogaholics, speaker, writer, consultant and professional dog belly rub scratcher.

Having gone to over 9 schools by the 9th grade and moving over 30 times in my life, pets were the only constant in a world of chaos and change. True friends. True companions.

Knowing I couldn’t possibly be the only one who loved pets and treated them as family members, I set out to build a local community who cares deeply about the quality of life for their pets. What resulted was beyond my wildest dreams. Dogaholics has become the center of an engaging and loyal following of committed people with a passion for helping all of us addicted to dogs go from dogaholic to being a great pet parent!

Giving back to my local community is a deep passion of mine. Dogaholics has given me the opportunity to truly give back in meaningful ways, including raising over $150,000 for shelter dogs, and finding many more their forever homes. Having customers like you, become part of our family, and help us give back has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Commitment, chaos, and consistency have been reoccurring challenges in my life. In surmounting my own obstacles, I’ve learned that old dogs can learn new tricks, so now I’m living the good life with my pups, Guinness and Clover.

I look forward to meeting you and your pooch!

Candace.

Ben Service Center Manager An Iowa native, Ben moved to Chicago 8 years ago to study journalism at Columbia. Ben enjoys his job at Dogaholics because of the relationships he forms with each dog in our pack and their families who trust our team to take professional care of their dogs. His favorite training tip is to set firm boundaries for your dog to make for a more peaceful home and a happier dog. Outside of work, Ben likes to spend time with his friends and ride bikes. Ben’s cat is his alarm clock; every morning at 8 a.m. sharp his cat wakes him up for an early breakfast!

James Boarding Associate James is attending school to become a nurse. His favorite thing about being a part of the team at Dogaholics is encountering all the different doggie personalities from our diverse pack. He agreed to adopt his dog Lenny from PAWS before he even met him! When they first saw each other they both knew it was meant to be. James' favorite thing to do is enjoy concerts regardless of the genre.

Although he doesn't currently have a dog he feels it's rewarding when the transport dogs become genuinely excited to see him. Christina Service Advisor The dogs at the daycare know Christina rules the roost but only because of her positive reinforcement techniques and of course her way of talking to them like they are kids in her class. Her tips to pet parents for getting a head of the training curve are treats, consistency and Google, of course. Christina and her dog Mushin have relocated to Los Angeles. She is still very dedicated to serving pet parents virtually as a consultant with our facility.
